Constipation whilst Travelling

It can be common to get constipation when travelling.

Why can travelling cause constipation?

Your digestive system may be affected by changes in:

  • The environment

  • Diet

  • Routine, for example caused by a change in time difference

  • Being in a place where you are not comfortable going to the toilet

How to reduce the risk of constipation while travelling:

Drink enough fluid

It is easy to forget to drink enough water when travelling or during a long flight, but enough fluid can help you to reduce the risk of constipation.

Reduce travel stress before the trip

The stress of getting to the destination and being in a new environment can lead to digestive problems. If possible, pack in good time before the trip and double check all the to-do lists to prevent it becoming a last-minute mission which can cause stress.

Take constipation medicine with you just in case

If you sometimes experience constipation while on holiday, it may be a good idea to pack medicine for temporary constipation. In this way, you can relieve the discomfort of constipation if needed and do not need to find a pharmacy during your holiday.

MICROLAX® microenema provides a quick and easy way to relieve temporary constipation within 5-15 minutes.
